7 Ways to Make Time For The Things You Love

How do you make time for the things you love? It sounds easy but is hard to achieve.

As life continues to speed up, it can be difficult for us to keep up with all of the demands that are placed on our time. With so much going on at once, it’s hard to find someone that complains about having too much time on their hands. We have to juggle work, family commitments, trying to stay healthy and fit, and finding time for fun activities.

The fact that time is at a premium these days, it’s not easy to find time to pursue your passions. But there’s usually a way if you’re truly serious. You can make the best use of your valuable time each day in order to get more out of your day-to-day life.

Use these techniques to create the time you require for important pursuits:

1. Use your mornings wisely.

Most people waste their mornings. They try to spend as much time as possible in bed and barely manage to get to work on time each day.

Why not change your mornings into action for your betterment? Instead of using the time to laze away, use it as an opportunity for self-improvement.

Going to bed early gets you started on the right track; rising early gives you a world of possibilities. It will allow you more quality hours to make something great out of your life.

2. Decide what you want to make room for.

If you want to carve out more time in your life, take a good look at what’s important and what you want to make time for.

Do the cherished relationships in your life need extra nurturing? Are there hobbies or activities that bring you joy?

To make the most of your extra time, focus on what is important and meaningful. When selecting activities, it’s also key to tap into emotions rather than logic; if something resonates on more than just a basic rational level, chances are it’ll stick around long enough to provide tangible benefits.

3. Understand the ways you waste time.

We’ve all experienced the familiar sensation of time escaping our grasp. To identify where yours may be going, why not take a step back and observe yourself for an entire day?

Document what activities contribute to your lack of productivity. Once you discover these areas of potential improvement, it’ll become much simpler to create solutions that make your day-to-day life more efficient than ever before.

4. Make a schedule.

A schedule is a perfect tool to maximize your time and make sure that you’re making the most of it. Preparing a plan will allow for more efficient use of your day, plus some added breathing room to enjoy what makes you happiest.

Add time for the things you love to your schedule and keep the appointment just like you would with an important client, friend, or family member.

5. Prioritize and eliminate.

Too often, we overload ourselves with obligations that don’t actually add any value or joy to our lives. It’s time to do a life audit and decide what really needs your attention versus those tasks you can easily part ways with.

Evaluate which areas of your day-to-day activities bring the biggest return on investment (emotionally and/or mentally) so you can focus on what is most important to you.

6. Delegate.

Create some breathing room in your life by taking advantage of the people around you. Everyone has different strengths and interests, so put them to use.

Get more time back at home or even in the office—distribute tasks among employees, kids, partners, and coworkers for maximum efficiency. Even a little help can make all the difference.

7. Multitask.

If you’re looking for ways to kill two birds with one stone, why not try multitasking?

Instead of making calls while sitting at your desk or waiting in line, get some exercise by taking a bike ride and making phone calls simultaneously. You can even work on your tan and mow the grass at the same time.

Don’t let time slip away! You can find time if you have a good enough reason. And you are a good enough reason.

Make a conscious decision about what you want to spend it on and use methods like delegation, creating schedules, and avoiding procrastination.

To maximize meaningful activities, think carefully about where you’re willing to make changes. As they say, “life isn’t too long when filled with meaningful experiences!”
