We, humans, are just marvelous, aren’t we?
When you really think about all the stuff we do (including the things we don’t have control over, like hearts beating) it really just blows my mind.
And the voice is no exception. To sing and sing healthy there’s some stuff going on.
To really appreciate it, you have to know a bit about how it works.
(and it works the same no matter our gender or age)
Focus is the new superpower. Think about it.
How many times has someone asked you a question, but didn’t hear your response because they were distracted by their smartphone?
They couldn’t focus on your response for five seconds, and they actually wanted to know the answer!
If you want to have a huge advantage in your life, I believe learning how to avoid being distracted is key….for kids and adults.
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what stands in the way of reaching our musical goals besides the actual musical training.
Often discomfort and fear are the only things holding us back. It’s true for kids and adults. It’s okay to feel that way, because courage requires vulnerability.
Today I'm hoping to take the mystery out of piano practice for parents. 1. Your children will need help – Up until...
Consistently boost your child’s self-confidence. The idea of feeling good about a kid’s skills and abilities is referred to as child self-confidence. Occasionally, we certainly notice when kids seem to feel good about themselves and when they don’t.
The world can be a confusing and challenging place. This is especially true for a child. Children don’t have a lot of control over their lives. They also have to spend all day with other children, who can be less than supportive and encouraging.
It’s your responsibility as a parent to ensure that your child has a healthy level of self-confidence.
As children grow and mature, that confidence can be as important as the skills themselves.
To thrive, kids need to trust in their capabilities while knowing that they can handle it if they aren’t successful at something. It is by experiencing mastery and rebounding from failure that they develop healthy self-confidence.
It’s never too late to know the surprising benefits of learning a musical instrument. Between YouTube, Skype, and all the other online methods of exchanging information, it’s possible to learn an instrument very effectively without having to leave your home.
Music can be a wonderful hobby to add to your child’s life!
Warming up and cooling down before and after singing is crucial in preserving a healthy singing voice. If you don’t warm up and cool down your voice, you risk damaging your vocal cords and sometimes permanently so.
